Saving lives on Shabbat – Rabbi Orbach from Hashmonaim

During Shabbat’s third meal, in the middle of Rabbi Shenvald’s speech, the Yeshiva paramedics’ beeper went on.

They got up politely and hurriedly from the table.

'We need to go' they said. And got ready for a quick exit.

Only on Saturday night did it become clear that they had been sent

to the nearby Hashmonaim settlement.

The Rabbi of Hashmonaim, Rabbi Itamar Orbach,

suffered a severe heart attack

and was in a condition that required a complex and difficult resuscitation.

The experienced Yeshiva students who had just completed a long period of service as military paramedics arrived at the scene and immediately resumed resuscitation efforts along with an ambulance crew arriving at the scene.

After not such a simple treatment, the resuscitation efforts succeeded,

Thank G-d, and the Rabbi was taken to a hospital.

This week we were updated that his condition is improving, Thank G-d.

It is a great privilege to be among the lifeguards.
