Organizing a public prayer before the previous Shabbat in memory of those who perished in Meron
The Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Shenvald, after the disaster in Meron,
addressed communities all over the country and the world:
"Today is a difficult day for the people of Israel.
A heavy catastrophe like no other for many years. Which is difficult to express in words.
We are all one body whose limbs ache and bleed.
We are all commanded to pray for the healing of the wounded...
We are not to blame for what happened,
but any event of this magnitude in which small children perish obliges us to wake up ....
I suggest to the city Rabbis that every community that can,
should gather before Shabbat to pray and recite Psalms for the healing of the wounded.
We at the Yeshiva, dedicated the day to studying in memory of the victims and the healing of the wounded,
and will gather, at the Yeshiva, about half an hour before Shabbat...
In prayer that G-d will say enough to our troubles
and will send soon a complete healing to all the wounded and all the sick people of Israel.
"אֵ֕ל נָ֛א רְפָ֥א נָ֖א לָֽהּם׃"
“O G-d, please heal them!"
And heal the families of the victims, and send them consolation. Amen.
