On the night of Rosh Chodesh Adar,
we held a special vigil that dealt with Purim matters,
We held a gathering with songs and study
and the Rosh Yeshiva gave a talk on the secrets of Purim.
Ori Polovin -an Avrech in the Yeshiva -
learned with the students the issue of 'Chayav Inish Libsumei.*
At midnight we had a festive meal.
As the Month of Adar begins we increase our joyous activities.
*The Netivot Shalom explains this to mean that a person is obligated to become genuinely intoxicated with the notion of Purim – no matter how distant we are from Hashem – Hashem is close to us. In terms of an actual obligation, the Ramah explains that it is sufficient to drink just a little more than is the usual habit, and to take a nap.
