Besha'a Tova, we opened the year on Rosh Chodesh Elul,
the Yeshiva's seventeenth year (Tuv in Gimatriya).
Zman Elul began with the Rosh Yeshiva's blessing:
Learn to ascend in the month of Elul in the two areas:
Bein Adam LaMakom - between a person and G-d - Ani LeDodi VeDodi Li
, אני לדודי ודודי לי — "I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved is mine"
- in Torah study, prayer, and repentance.
And Bein Adam LeChaveiro - between people- ish l'reyehu Umatanot la'evyonim”,
איש לרעהו ומתנות לאביונים “And sending parcels, each man to his friend, and gifts to the poor.”
-with kindness, charity, friends.
(The first letters of the words of the verses spell out the name אלול — Elul.)
Thirty new students joined our Yeshiva, for Shiur A.
And on Monday the Beit Midrash started to be crowded.
This year we are starting a number of new programs for students alongside the existing programs of study, Rabbinate and teaching.
The Yeshiva welcomes the new students and wishes them good luck
in the Beit Midrash and in the world of Torah.
And to all the students, their families and to all of Am Israel,
may you all have a good and healthy new year.
