Concluding Event of the Ofakim Bar Mitzvah Program – this time also a Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah for Special-Needs Children
This Monday we held a special concluding event for 14 Ofakim children. For the first time, we celebrated the Bat Mitzvah of a girl who joined the group, as well as the Bar Mitzvah of an autistic boy from Ofakim who, although he passed the age of Bar Mitzvah, celebrated it now beautifully.
We began by visiting HaRav Shmuel Eliyahu, who blessed the children. From there we continued to the Kotel, which was very moving. Afterwards the children and their families celebrated at a Bar Mitzvah meal and received blessings from Rav Shenvald, Rosh HaYeshiva, Yahaloma Zechut, HaRav Menachem Noiberg and an especially emotional Zvi Rom. Now is the time to thank everyone who takes part in this special project: Yahaloma from Ofakim who looks out for every child as if they were her own children, to the yeshiva faculty and students who tutor them, to Mr. and Mrs. Zvi and Barbara Rom for the incredible initiative and aid to the families and to our supporters from Israel and around the world who have been making this project possible from the beginning.
